Behind the Project

During the holiday season, Balsam Hill sought to create an interactive experience to engage shoppers while also driving online sales. The idea was to develop a kiosk that would allow users to take photos and create personalized holiday cards, which could be sent electronically. However, the success of the experience would ultimately be measured by its ability to generate conversions—turning engaged users into paying customers.

Objective

The primary goal of the interactive kiosk was to

  1. Increase customer engagement in-store by offering a fun, personalized holiday experience.

  2. Encourage social sharing and brand awareness through personalized holiday cards.

  3. Drive conversions by seamlessly integrating the kiosk experience with Balsam Hill’s online store.

Interactive Holiday Kiosk

To address these challenges, the Balsam Hill Interactive Holiday Kiosk was conceptualized and designed to blend customer engagement with strategic product promotion.

Photo Booth Experience

The kiosk offers a high-quality photo booth experience, allowing users to take festive holiday photos with family and friends. To enhance the holiday spirit, users can apply various filters and they can select from a range of virtual backgrounds featuring beautifully decorated holiday scenes that showcase Balsam Hill’s premium Christmas trees, wreaths, and garlands.

Product Integration & Discovery

Each virtual background subtly highlights Balsam Hill’s products, with interactive product tags that display the name, price, and brief descriptions of featured items.

ADA Accessibility Mode for Inclusive Design

Implemented an ADA-compliant reach mode that dynamically adjusts the interface, lowering on-screen content to ensure accessibility for individuals with limited reach or mobility impairments. This enhancement makes the holiday experience more inclusive for all users.

Driving 10,000+ email signups in two months

With thousands of new email signups, Balsam Hill gained a larger audience for future campaigns, enabling the brand to send targeted promotions, exclusive holiday offers, and retargeting campaigns.
