Product Design
Unified Converge App Download Page
Summary
Behind the Project
I designed and developed a unified download landing page for both iOS and Android applications. This project consolidated multiple individual landing pages—each previously accessible only via a unique URL—into a single, streamlined interface. This new page allows both internal teams and external partners to easily access the latest production and development builds, as well as historical versions of the apps. These applications are critical as they run the user experiences we create at OnQ, including high-profile projects like Costco’s Apple Table and various other client-driven experiences.

Challenge
Key Obstacles and Constraints
A detailed look at the problems faced during the project, emphasizing the need to unify multiple isolated pages and clearly differentiate between various app versions. Below are images of the original experience.
Siloed Landing Pages
Each of the apps previously had its own dedicated landing page, accessible only via its unique URL. This fragmented approach made it difficult for users to locate the correct page without prior knowledge of the specific URL.
Multiple Build Variants
The existing system had separate pages for different app variants. Consolidating them into one interface required a flexible design that could handle multiple URLs, install buttons, and icons for iOS while maintaining a unified look.
Clear Version Differentiation
It was crucial to ensure that users were explicitly aware when they were downloading an older version or a developer build, as any confusion could lead to deployment or usage issues.
An explanation of the innovative solutions and design strategies implemented to address the identified challenges.
Unified Homepage Layout
Designed a centralized homepage that showcases the latest production and development builds, eliminating the need for users to remember multiple URLs. Integrated a simple toggle or tab system to switch between production and development builds, while also offering easy access to historical builds for further details.
Visual Cues for Versioning
Incorporated clear visual indicators and contextual tooltips to alert users when they were about to download an older version or a developer build, ensuring that the implications of each choice were immediately apparent.
Modular and Adaptive Components
Developed UI components capable of dynamically displaying build details such as version numbers, build IDs, branch type, release dates, file sizes, changelogs, app icons, and platform-specific download/install buttons.
Impact
Outcomes and Benefits
Enhanced Clarity and User Awareness
Clear visual indicators now help users immediately understand when they are downloading an older version or a developer build, reducing potential miscommunications.
Improved Efficiency
Consolidating multiple siloed landing pages into one unified hub enables both internal teams and external partners to quickly access the correct build without needing to remember multiple URLs, streamlining workflows.
Future-Proof Design
The modular architecture allows for easy updates and scalability, accommodating future changes or additional app variants without compromising the user experience.
